Trip Overview
Did you know that you can put your own trip together with as few as two people and up to twenty? Specify your dates and activities. We will handle the rest and all at a great price.
On our Costa Rican multi-sport adventure, you’ll discover tropical jungles, active volcanoes, hot springs, waterfalls, mangrove swamps and miles of solitary beaches, washed by two oceans. Packed into a small country from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific coast, on our 9-day adventure we will hike and ride zip-lines through the jungle; enjoy a jungle boat tour to the canals of Tortuguero; raft the Sarapiqui River through a rain forest; visit Arenal, an active volcano; relax in hot springs; visit a thunderous waterfall; and enjoy an outrigger sea canoe tour. Oh yes, & there’s time to shop & mingle with the locals. Another highlight of the trip will be the delicious food & gourmet coffee served by the hospitable Costa Rican people. All-inclusive except airfare. Operated through our sister company, Centennial Adventures.
Did you know Costa Rica has…
- 850 species of birds, including the resplendent quetzal, scarlet macaw and toucan.
- 35,000 species of insects, including the morpho butterfly.
- 160 species of amphibians, including the poison-dart frog.
- 220 species of reptiles.
- Marine animals include the leatherback turtle, West Indian manatee, humpback whales and dolphins.
- Land mammals include the two-toed sloth, giant anteater, armadillo, spider monkey, howler monkey, jaguar and ocelot.
The scenery in Costa Rica is spectacular and life forms are diverse from curious monkeys to industrious leaf-cutter ants; from birds, butterflies and beetles in rainbow colors, to the slow moving sloth. With so much to see and so many places to explore, we are never surprised when people come back for this eco-adventure again and again.

Trip Overview

It’s not just the scenery and adventure that makes our trips special, but the interesting people you meet and the new friends you make. For years, Centennial has sponsored singles adventure travel trips connecting people with common interests and a love for the outdoors. There is a special group bonding that occurs by the end of a canoe trip or sea kayak trip which makes them very popular with solo travelers.
This spectacular canyon country of the Colorado Plateau, including Ruby and Horsethief Canyons, features majestic walls of red sandstone and offers some of the best Colorado canoeing and Colorado sea kayaking. The river is gentle with occasional small Class I+ rapids to add spice to the journey. Roads do not bound this portion of the river and the steep-walled canyons are accessible only from the river, giving the area a true wilderness setting.
You’ll be amazed at stands of shiny granite sculpted by water through the ages while paddling or floating in your lifejacket past the remnants of ancient metamorphic rock, called Black Rock. Camping along the river’s banks, exploring a natural amphitheater with ancient Indian rock art or hiking into deep box canyons will leave you awed by the immensity of geologic time and the silence of the wilderness. This is BIG COUNTRY and a geologist’s paradise. Many of our educational classes focus on this area. This stretch of river near Grand Junction, CO, can accommodate either a canoe trip or sea kayak trip.

Music has always played an important roll in the 24-year history of Centennial Canoe Outfitters. The sounds of guitars under the stars and the crackle of the campfire seem to be magical. Plus, our guests have always been encouraged to join in the sing-a-longs or bring their favorite instrument.
Colorado canoeing on the Gunnison River will spark your sense of adventure with opportunities for hiking and exploring, floating in your lifejacket and camping along the river’s edge. During this Colorado canoe trip, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs. These canyons in the Colorado Plateau are truly magnificent and not soon forgotten. Massive cottonwoods stand on many river bends supporting the huge nests of blue herons, hawks and eagles. You may hike into Dominguez Canyon, a Wilderness Study Area, one of the most beautiful stops on the river. Hiking into the canyon will reveal deep, cool swimming holes, waterfalls and many ancient Indian petroglyphs (rock art panels). 1-day trips are 15 miles, 2 and 3-day trips are 31 miles, and 4 or 5-day trips are 42 miles. So canoe in Colorado on the Gunnison River with us!

Trip Overview
This is what canoeing in Colorado is all about! Your canoe trip will cover a 30-mile stretch of spectacular canyon country northwest of Vail, CO. A stunning landscape of pine trees and multi-colored sandstone formations with some volcanic intrusions line this exciting section of river that lies just 155 miles from Denver, CO. The Bull Gulch Wilderness Study Area borders the river and provides excellent trout fishing. So don’t forget your fishing rod (Colorado fishing license is required). You’ll find yourself camping in forested areas along the river. After your canoe trip, you might also consider a relaxing visit to Glenwood Springs and their natural hot mineral springs pool and vapor caves, located just 19 miles to the west.
This section of the Colorado River features several Class II-III rapids mixed with flat water. At least one experienced paddler per boat is recommended; children should be 13 years of age or older. Colorado River canoeing also provides opportunities to “tether and float” your boat alongside the few, short Class III rapids.

Centennial teams up with the Colorado School of Mines (303-273-3303) to offer an astronomy class for teachers (K-12) and for general interest to the public. The wilderness night sky is a phenomenal environment for learning more about our solar system, sunspots, constellations, deep sky objects, and astronomy activities for the classroom. This combined 1-day class session and 3-day canoe trip earns 2 continuing ed credits for teachers. The pretrip class for students will be at the Colorado University Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, CO, on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 1 pm - 8:30 pm. Former participants in level I of this class can qualify for Level II credit by completing a special project to be determined by the instructor and conducted concurrently with the basic class offering. Level II participants will attend the lecture on July 30, 2008, at the Fiske Planetarium from 4 pm to 9:30 pm and will participate in a special 2-hour project in the field. Non teachers may take the full course for the student price and have a reserved seat. Non credit, discounted seats, for the canoe trip only (at regular canoe trip prices), are based on space availability. What better opportunity to have fun on the river and learn while you’re at it! Ages 15 and up.
This spectacular canyon country of the Colorado Plateau, including Ruby and Horsethief Canyons, features majestic walls of red sandstone and offers some of the best Colorado canoeing and Colorado sea kayaking. Trip Overview

Take a huge step into the geologic past and marvel at a landscape created over 260 million years ago when dinosaurs, not “cowboys,” roamed the Wild West. Many of our geology trips travel through the Colorado Plateau which encompasses a 4-state region. Geologists travel from all over the world to visit these magnificent rock formations. Centennial will provide a geology expert on these trips, available to answer your questions and explain how the canyons got there. Learn while you have fun!
This Utah canoe trip is an unforgettable odyssey. Paddling the spectacular 60-mile section of the Green River from Crystal Geyser south of Green River, UT, as it winds towards Mineral Bottom, just north of Canyonlands National Park, is the trip of a lifetime. Between the town of Green River, Utah, and Canyonlands National Park is part of the longest stretch of quiet wilderness water in the lower 48 states. As you canoe the Green River, the moving panorama is incomparable. The twisting, looping river winds its way between sheer, colorful sandstone walls, hundreds of feet high. Vast canyon systems and water channels branch in all directions, inviting hiking and exploring as well as providing excellent camping. Highlights may include hiking to Bow Knot Bend, the canyons of Trin-Alcove, plus Horseshoe Canyon. Old settler’s cabins, abandoned mines, historic outlaw hideouts, caves, ancient Fremont Indian petroglyphs (rock art panels a.d. 500-1200), and lush hidden springs await those who pass this way. Oftentimes, a layover day will be built into the trip for hiking. As you retrace Major John Wesley Powell’s 1869 route when he first floated this river and documented the area, remember his words describing his mission: “...to fill in the last white space on the map...”
The trip will begin in Moab, UT, where a local tour operator will transport passengers to the Green River entry point. Cars can be stored with the operator at no charge.

You’ll experience the fun of paddling and camping on remote islands accessible only by boat! The pristine waters of the San Juan and Gulf Islands are host to over 80 resident Orca whales. Other wildlife sightings may include minke whales, Dall’s porpoises, seals and eagles.
The San Juan Islands are home to an eclectic mix of artists, industry, and tourism. The beautiful environment, temperate weather and fascinating variety of marine mammals and bird species all add to the allure of the islands. Trip Overview

Our two-person sea kayaks are 16-feet long and are very comfortable and stable. Sleeker than a canoe, they will also travel faster. The only thing you’ll need to carry in your kayak is a camera and water bottle. All of your camping and personal gear will be transported down river on the support raft.
Our sea kayak trip from Fruita, Colorado (13 miles west of Grand Junction, Colorado), covers a 30-mile stretch of the Colorado River to Westwater, Utah. This spectacular canyon country of the Colorado Plateau, including Ruby and Horsethief Canyons, features majestic walls of red sandstone and offers some of the best paddling in Colorado. The river is gentle with occasional small Class I+ rapids to add spice to the journey. Roads do not bound this portion of the river and the steep-walled canyons are accessible only from the river, giving the area a true wilderness setting. This stretch of river can easily be navigated in a sea kayak.
You’ll be amazed at stands of shiny granite sculpted by water through the ages while paddling or floating in your lifejacket past the remnants of ancient metamorphic rock called Black Rock.
