Colorado River Canoeing

Towering palisades will engulf you as you paddle through Ruby and Horse Thief Canyons from Loma, CO to Westwater, UT. You’ll find some of our most dramatic scenery and hiking in Mee and Knowles Canyons. Your special treat includes paddling through two billion year-old stands of shiny granite sculpted by water through the ages known as “Black Rocks.” Mostly flat water with possible small waves.

Colorado River - Upper Canoeing

1 day / Great fishing - no hiking/ State Bridge, CO
Whether you're looking for an easy one-day trip or you would like to learn how to canoe, this is the river section for you. Huge ponderosa pines compliment the red canyon walls, creating a great back country experience. Fishing is excellent, so don’t forget your rod if you'd like to fish before or after your trip. Of all the rivers that we canoe, this one near State Bridge, CO, is the closest to Denver.

Green River Canoeing

4-6 days / Hiking / Moab, UT
As you retrace Major John Wesley Powell’s epic 1869 path into the annals of history, this twisting river winds its way between sheer colorful sandstone walls, thousands of feet high. You’ll marvel at Labyrinth, Horse Shoe and Trin-Alcove Canyons and Bow Knot Bend. You may also want to stay in the Moab, UT area and visit Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, which are right next-door.

Gunnison River Canoeing

1-5 days / Hiking/ Grand Junction, CO
The “Gunny” is your personal playground and will spark your sense of adventure as you find your canoe dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs. You’ll have opportunities for floating in your life-jacket and hiking into Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Area, revealing cool swimming holes, waterfalls and many ancient rock art panels (depending on campsites and timing). Are you looking for a truly “remote” area? If so, then welcome to the wild and secluded beauty of the White River Canyon in western Colorado & eastern Utah near Rangely, CO. Fantastic hiking awaits you and the wildlife includes herds of wild horses, antelope, deer and beaver. Excellent camping is found in the cottonwood groves along the river.

You’ll experience what American heritage is all about as you cross the historic Overland Trail and visit a pioneer graveyard on the overlying bluffs. San Juan Islands Sea Kayaking

Just north of Seattle, WA, in the San Juan Islands, you’ll paddle a 2-person sea kayak through crystal clear ocean water and home to Orca whales and porpoise while camping on the remote Jones & Stuart Islands. Colorado River - Upper Canoeing

A stunning landscape of pine trees and multi-colored sandstone formations with some volcanic intrusions line this exciting section of river that lies just 155 miles from Denver. The Bull Gulch Wilderness Study Area borders the river and provides excellent fishing. You can fish while you are in camp or before or after your trip. This section of the Colorado River features many Class II rapids mixed with flat water providing opportunities to “tether and float” your canoe (like walking your dog) alongside the few, more challenging rapids.
