Wes Bagwell, your facilitator, will reveal the "tricks of the trade" for those interested in the photography portion of the trip that includes lighting, ISO, composition, night photography and more.  If the night sky is clear, we'll be focusing our cameras on the brilliance of the Milky Way over the canyon and hopefully capture some of the Perseids Meteor Shower! A tripod is a must for night photography.

Wes is a Georgia raised rocky mountain transplant with a passion for the great outdoors and photography. Combined with the desire to explore and an education from Rocky Mountain School of Photography, he shares with us the world through his camera.  From night skies to remote landscapes, his photographic visions are now part of Centennial Canoe and we would love for you to be a part of this experience.

This is an ideal trip for people just wanting to watch the night sky, novice photographers and anyone wanting to improve their photography skills.  Participants interested in the photography course MUST HAVE AN SLR CAMERA AND TRIPOD and shoud have a basic understanding of their camera.  A dry bag or waterproof casing for your camera is recommended.  If possible, bring the owner's manual for your camera.

For additional information such as itinerary, what to bring, maps, etc., see "QUICK LINKS" on right sidebar.

Canoeing in Colorado on the Gunnison River will spark your sense of adventure with opportunities for hiking and exploring, floating in your lifejacket and camping along the river’s edge. During this Colorado canoe trip covering 31 miles, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs.  These canyons in the Colorado Plateau are truly magnificent and not soon forgotten. Massive cottonwoods stand on many river bends supporting the huge nests of blue herons, hawks and eagles. You may hike into Dominguez Canyon, Colorado’s newest designated Wilderness Area, one of the most beautiful stops on the river. Hiking into the canyon will reveal deep, cool swimming holes, waterfalls and many ancient Indian petroglyphs (rock art panels).
