Geographically, Moab, UT is located in the southeastern portion of the state and lies almost equal distance between Salt Lake City, UT, and Denver, CO. Flying into either of these cities will likely yield the best airfare rates. However, both cities will leave you approximately 320-miles or a 6-hour drive from Moab and the need for a rental car.
Another option would be to fly into Walker Field, in Grand Junction (GJ), CO. Airport code is GJT. Airfare into this airport is typically higher but it gets you within 85-miles of Moab (1.5 hr. drive) and still needing a rental car. If the “rental car” scenario isn’t attractive, perhaps we can arrange a ride for you. One-way from GJ to Moab is roughly $90 depending on gas prices and your arrival schedule. There is also a chance of getting a ride back to GJ with a fellow customer on the trip since many people travel right past the GJ airport on their way home. This approach is not uncommon and would have to be arranged by you. We’re happy to provide you with a list of people on your trip unless they’ve opted out of the “carpooling” list.
The last option is to fly into Canyonlands Field in Moab. This is a very small airport that can be utilized when flying from Grand Junction. From the Moab airport, a taxi would be needed to your motel and meeting place the morning of your trip.
