Colorado canoeing on the Gunnison River will spark your sense of adventure with opportunities for hiking and exploring in one of Colorado's Wilderness Areas, Dominguez Canyon, floating in your life jacket and camping along the river’s edge. During this Colorado canoe trip, you will be dwarfed by high walls of red sandstone and shale deposited during the age of the dinosaurs.

Spend the 4th of July holiday in a spectacular canyon river. This magnificent canyon country of the Colorado Plateau, including Ruby and Horsethief Canyons, features majestic walls of red sandstone and offers some of the best canoeing in Colorado. Roads do not bound this portion of the river and the steep-walled canyons are accessible only from the river, giving the area a true wilderness setting.

July 14th - July 16th, 2017

Let the magical waters of the Gunnison River whisk you away through the high red sandstone canyon walls of the Colorado Plateau. Museum educator Jennifer Moss Logan will share stories of the colorful characters who left their mark on the western landscape, and offer activities that help you explore the mindset of explorers long ago. Open to the public.
